John G. Lake’s Secrets of Spiritual Power

John G. Lake’s Secrets of Spiritual Power

1) Spiritual Hunger: (Intense desire)
A desire for the fulfillment of spiritual results – not a desire for more of God. Matthew 5:6 – Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. I exercise a position of the dominion and authority of Jesus, and seek to establish that through the power of the Holy Ghost in my life and the life of others. We do not ask God to come and heal, but we demand in the name of Jesus for the devil and his works to depart.

How to develop spiritual hunger / appetite:
The same way you develop physical hunger. Increase energy output which will require greater energy input.
You must force yourself to do the things you normally do not do. Eat when you don’t want to. Eat more often than you are used to. This will stretch your stomach, forcing you to eat more next time just to feel full.
Example: Pray more often, study the Bible more often. Witness more often. Begin to practice what you learn in church.

2) Feeding on the Word of God:
a) Read – take a portion of Scripture and get the overall story.
b) Study – take a verse apart word by word – get definitions.
c) Meditate – think about and say over and over to yourself what you have discovered in this verse. (receive it, believe it, and act on it)

3) Communion with God:
a) Talking Prayer
b) Listening Prayer
c) Practice the presence of the Spirit of God. (A classic: Practice of the Presence of God: The Best Rule of Holy Life by Brother Lawrence)

4) Fellowship with Like-minded Christians:
a) Get around people that believe like you do.
b) If there are none in your area, win some. Then disciple them into this truth.
c) If the people in your Church are dead and resistant to this truth, leave that place and find a place that accepts it. If there is no place like that near you, start one. You are a missionary.

5) Public Confession of Who You Are In Christ and Who He Is In You.
a) Jesus is Lord: of me, family, city, nation, finances, health, etc.
b) The Great Commission: Matt. 28 & Mark 16
c) The Golden Rule: Matthew 7:12
d) The Abiding Anointing: 1 John 2:27
e) Power over the enemy: Luke 10:19
f) The Works of Jesus and Greater: John 14:12
g) I am God’s son, man’s servant and the devils master.

6) Praying In Tongues:
a) Loud: it brings up the fight in you.
b) Long: time yourself and get longer each time, build spiritual stamina.
c) Intensity – fight as if your life depends upon it. (It does, and if not your life, someone else’s.)

7) Action:
James 1:22 – But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. KJV

  1. Destroy sacred cows* concerning sickness and power.

  3. Get fed up.
  4. Treat all sickness the same.
  5. Treat all sickness like a person.
  6. Command not beg.
  7. Speak to the problem – not to others about the problem.
  8. See people as oppressed prisoners of war.
  9. Get clean – stay clean.
  10. Stay out of pride – anyone could do what you are doing.
  11. Be aggressive – develop your aggressiveness.
  12. Be led by God’s character and nature.
  13. Accept responsibility for your fellow man.
  14. Decide to obey the bible, not some arbitrary feeling.
  15. Know that God is with you, in you, and for you.

*Sacred Cow Definition: A sacred cow is a belief or tradition that is held regardless of the truth, and one that keeps people in bondage and even allows sickness or death to be accepted, rather than change.

"How Come?" - In Jesus - 01-15-2015 [back dated post]

This afternoon I met Gavin, a young foreign asian man. He was carefully and slowly walking down the stairs while holding onto the rails. I walked slowly beside him to find out what had happened. He had sprained his ankle playing basketball. He let me pray for him to be healed. I don't think he really knew exactly what I meant but he was willing. Jesus healed him in a few seconds and his reaction was priceless. At first after checking for the pain he just breathed in one deep breath with his mouth hanging open then said "How come?" As I explained the Who and why that happened and how Jesus paid the price for our sins and sickness and if we believe and follow Him we will be saved, he was almost in tears.

This evening while at the supermarket I met Barb who had pain in her knees. She said it was probably a 10/10 in her left knee and less in the right. Jesus healed her right leg in a few seconds and the left was greatly reduced to almost nothing. She said "What did you do!?!" with great surprise. haha! I said "It wasn't me, it was Jesus." After sharing with her about a real relationship with Jesus and about how when our minds are renewed we can do the same things He did as He lives through us, as she was in the Catholic religion, she let me pray again for diabetes and eye problems, and the remainder of the pain in the left knee. The pain in the knee was now gone and I expect the others will clear right up. I love You, Lord! Thank You!!!

Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!

Oh yaaaa, the funniest part I almost forgot. Almost at the very end of the last time praying for Barb at the supermarket, there was a man on the speaker system that said "Thank You Lord." HAHAHA! I wasn't sure I heard right but after I finished praying I asked Barb if she heard that and she did. She said she thought it was me for a moment. We had a good laugh. I guess someone was watching, haha.
