Yesterday, January 10th, 2014, I went for a walk during lunch and was feeling a little discouraged. I was also feeling a little defeated as I had been dealing with some health attacks by the enemy over the last couple months and most recently a flu. I also didn't feel very effective or useful to the Master lately.
As I walked and talked with the Lord, I noticed two young gentlemen walking toward me. One very tall black man walking with a shorter middle eastern looking man. As I noticed them, I immediately felt a very light, almost unnoticeable, warmth on the top of my left knee cap. I wondered if it was a word of knowledge for one of them.
I got up to them and asked "Do any of you have a problem or pain in your left knee?" The young middle eastern looking man, looked at me with a puzzled look on his face and said "No." while also shaking his head no. I looked to the tall young black man who started to nod yes with his head, and very simply stated "Yes. I do?" I asked him what was going on with it and found that he had pain in it from time to time, but none right at that moment. He said he didn't know why it was there but thought maybe he had to just exercise it a bit to get it better.
I explained that "As I was walking toward you guys, I thought I felt that God was saying that one of you had a problem with your left knee and that Jesus was going to heal it." I also asked "Would it be OK for me to pray for it and you will see that you won't have any more problems with it and you will know that it was Jesus Christ who has healed you?" He smiled and said "Sure." and put his knee toward me. The young middle eastern looking man had already started to walk away from us, as I assumed he didn't feel comfortable with what was going on.
I bent over and put my hand on the young black man's knee and commanded it to be healed in the name of Jesus Christ. Speaking to it, I said something like "All cartilage, bone, tendons, ligaments, muscles and tissues be restored and healed, and all pain go and never come back." I stepped back and said "Thank you for letting me pray and you will see Jesus has healed it. God bless you." He smiled at me saying "God bless you too!" and we parted ways. I had the strong sense he was a Christian already and didn't feel the need to go any further with the situation.
I was very encouraged by this and felt like God used me in this way specifically to encourage me in my slightly discouraged state. He is so good to us. If we are transparent and humble before Him, He just loves to show His faithfulness. He shows His faithfulness even when we aren't, but I think more so when we just talk with Him about all we are thinking, feeling or dealing with.
I continued on my way, thanking the Lord for using me back there, and was already a good ways into my walk. I then noticed an elderly woman walking toward me and immediately I felt a sharp pain in my right side hip. It was so different from the other sensation in my body, but I still wondered if it was another word of knowledge.
The elderly woman walked around a monument in what seemed like an attempt to avoid me. I almost walked past her, to carry on, but felt the unction to approach her anyway. I walked around the monument and said "Excuse me, Ma'am, do you have pain in your body?" She looked at me with slight curiosity and started to lift her right arm as if to show me where it was. I tried to speak up quickly and said "...in your right hip, specifically?" She then confirmed that it was true. I explained how I believed God told me she did and that I pray for people and Jesus heals them. She said I could pray for her. I reached out to shake her hand giving her my name to introduce myself, and found her name was Marie. I asked to keep hold of her hand and pray that way, and she allowed me. I began to tell the pain to leave her in Jesus' name, pointing at it with my other hand in authority, and thanking the Lord for healing her.
She reported that it was a little bit better but wasn't too sure. So I asked at which level the pain was currently at. I believe she said it was a 6 out of 10 with 10 being worst. I asked her to place her hand on her hip and said that I would put my hand on the back of hers and speak to it again. She did so willingly. I once again commanded all pain to go and the hip to be healed in Jesus' name.
Just then, she said "You are making me feel uncomfortable with what you are doing. Who are you?" Haha! I explained that I understand what she meant, in that it isn't something you see someone do every day, but that I was simply a Christian who follows Jesus because I believe He is Lord and that I was on my lunch break and I like to pray for people to be healed and God does so. She said she knows Jesus is Lord, but said that she thought that healing was for us in our hearts, almost to say that it wasn't for our bodies. I started to explain some passages of scripture to her (Matthew 10:7-8, John 14:12, Mark 16:17-18) explaining as to why I believe the way I do and she said "It would be really nice if you had all that power." I said "Well we all do, those who believe in and follow Jesus. He gives that to all who believe as He lives in us by His Spirit and does the work through us. We just have to step out and use it or be used by Him."
She started to walk away and I asked how the hip was doing, if it felt better, or if the pain was still there or if it was all gone? She said "You are freaking me out! But it is really better. But I have to go now." I said something like Praise God, Thank You Jesus, and tried to encourage her briefly with how she could do the same and pray for her family and friends, etc. saying God bless you and then parted ways with her.
I found that last situation so humorous. I just laughed with God and thanking Him for using me again as I walked back to work, so encouraged! I love You, Lord God!
Grace, peace and love in Jesus Christ!
